  • Rescue and Rehabilitation: Many of the elephants at this park have been rescued from logging camps, tourist attractions, or other exploitative situations. The park aims to rehabilitate them physically and psychologically, allowing them to recover from past mistreatment.
  • Educational Experience: One of the defining features of ethical elephant sanctuaries like this one is that they do not offer activities like elephant riding or shows, which can be harmful to the animals. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the elephants through feeding, bathing, and observing their natural behaviors.
  • No Riding or Exploitative Activities: Visitors to the Elephant Retirement Park have the opportunity to learn about the elephants, their behavior, and their conservation status. This educational component is crucial for raising awareness about the importance of protecting these animals and their natural habitats.
  • Responsible Tourism: This park promotes responsible and sustainable tourism practices. Visitors are encouraged to respect the elephants and their natural surroundings, and the park typically limits the number of guests to minimize stress on the animals.
  • Feeding and Bathing: A common activity at the park is feeding the elephants and giving them mud baths or water baths, which elephants enjoy. These activities allow visitors to interact with the elephants in a way that is both safe and enriching for the animals.
