Overview
Embark on a picturesque journey from Luang Prabang to Huay Xai with our 2-day, 1-night slow boat tour. Begin with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Luang Prabang, then set sail from Bandon pier, taking in stunning views of water buffalo, pristine jungle, and Laotian riverbank life. Arrive in Pakbeng by evening for an overnight stay (accommodation not included). On day two, continue your serene boat ride to Huay Xai, arriving by evening.
07:00 - 07:30 AM: Pick up from your hotel with an early morning wake-up call in Luang Prabang.
08:00 - 08:30 AM: Departure from the pier, ready to start your day.As the river flows, you might see water buffalo, untouched jungle, peanut fields, and fascinating scenes of life along the Laotian riverbank.
5:00 PM: Arrival in Pakbeng

Day 2: Pakbeng to Huay Xai

Additional Information
1.After arriving at the Slow Boat pier, you can reach the Laos immigration office by local transportation.
When you arrive at the Huay Xai pier, you can continue on your own to the Laos immigration checkpoint by local tuk tuk. If you would like to include a shared tuk tuk transfer to the Laos immigration checkpoint, please choose the option that includes this service. Our local partner will arrange and assist with the transfer for you
2.Travel time from the Slow Boat pier to the Laos Border Control and Immigration Office: 20 minutes
3.After finishing Laos immigration, you’ll need to take a bus across the 4th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge(20 minutes): 30,000 LAK.
4.The Thai and Laos borders close at 08:00 PM.
5.After clearing Thailand immigration, you have two options:
5.1 Stay in Chiang Khong City: This border city in Thailand offers convenient accommodation options.
Transportation to Chiang Khong city:
Shared taxi: 60 THB per person.
Private taxi: 200 THB.
5.2 Travel to Chiang Rai Downtown: If you plan to continue to Chiang Rai on the same day, it's recommended to choose the private taxi option. It takes 2 hours.

The boat ticket must be kept for 2 days. If you lose your ticket, you will need to buy a new one yourself. We cannot replace or reissue lost tickets.

Immigration and/or overstay fees in Laos or in Thailand
Laos Visa fee: 1,800 -2,000 THB or $40 USD (cash only) If you use USD, the bills must be in perfect condition — not torn, dirty, or old. Only new bills are accepted.
Exemption holders must pay this fee directly at the Laos border control.
