Hotel Pick-Up & Departure

One day prior to departure, our team will reconfirm your pick-up time directly with you, based on your hotel location in Luang Prabang.

On the day of travel, pick-up is scheduled between 06:00 – 06:30 AM, depending on your hotel location, followed by transfer to the boat pier.

The cruise departs at 07:00 AM, beginning a scenic journey along the Mekong River.

First Stop – Pak Ou Caves (Approx. 9:00 AM)

After departing from Luang Prabang, your first stop is the sacred Tham Ting (Pak Ou) Caves, home to over 4,000 Buddha statues placed by devotees over centuries. This is one of Laos’ most important spiritual sites, especially during the Lao New Year (Pimai Lao).

Scenic Mekong Cruise

After your visit, continue cruising along the Mekong River, where you can relax and take in the stunning scenery. Enjoy views of dramatic mountain landscapes, lush greenery, and remote riverside communities along the way.

Arrive in Pak Beng at approximately 4:30 – 5:00 PM.

Morning Departure

Due to the early departure, guests are advised to request a takeaway breakfast box from their hotel in advance. This is usually possible when staying at our recommended hotels. Meet your guide at Pak Beng pier before the 07:00 AM Mekong slow boat cruise departure.

Village Visit – Hill Tribe Community (Approx. 9:00 AM)

After departing from Pak Beng, continue your journey along the Mekong River before stopping at a local ethnic village. Here, your guide will introduce you to the daily life, traditional homes, and community school of the hill tribe people.

Onboard Lunch

After the village visit, return to the boat and continue cruising along the Mekong River. Enjoy a freshly prepared Lao lunch served around 12:00 PM, while taking in the beautiful scenery along the way.

Arrival in Houay Xay

After a relaxing afternoon cruise, arrive in Houay Xay at approximately 04:30 PM.

we will arrange local transportation to take you to the Laos Immigration checkpoint. You will have time to proceed with border crossing into Thailand and continue your onward journey.

Border Crossing Information (Houay Xay to Thailand)

1.Travel time from the Slow Boat pier to the Laos Border Control and Immigration Office: 20 minutes

2.After finishing Laos  immigration, you’ll need to take a bus across the 4th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge(20 minutes): 30,000 LAK.

3.The Thai and Laos borders close at 08:00 PM.

4.After clearing Thailand immigration, you have two options:

5.1 Stay in Chiang Khong City: This border city in Thailand offers convenient accommodation options.

• Transportation to Chiang Khong city:
  • Shared taxi: 60 THB per person.
  • Private taxi: 200 THB.

5.2 Travel to Chiang Rai Downtown: If you plan to continue to Chiang Rai on the same day, it's recommended to choose the private taxi option. It takes 2 hours.

• Hotel pick-up in Luang Prabang and transfer to the boat pier
• All guided excursions, including Pak Ou Caves and a local hill tribe village

• Insurance: To ensure insurance coverage for accidents, we kindly request a copy of your passport. Please send it to us via email or WhatsApp at least one day before the tour begins.
• Reservations are required at least two days in advance. For last-minute bookings one day before tours start, kindly contact us.
