Itinerary

06:40 – 07:10 AM – Hotel Pickup in Huay Xai
Our Lao team will pick you up directly from your hotel in Huay Xai, either the one we arranged for you or the one you specified. This convenient pickup ensures a smooth start to your slow boat journey to Luang Prabang.

07:30 AM – Pier Check-in and Boarding
Upon arrival at the Huay Xai boat pier, check in with our staff, receive your lunch box, and get ready to board the Mekong slow boat.

08:00 AM – Departure from Huay Xai
The boat departs promptly at 8:00 AM. Our traditional wooden slow boat offers spacious seating and accommodates up to 50 passengers, providing comfort throughout the trip.

Morning to Early Afternoon – Scenic Mekong River Cruise
Cruise along the Mekong River for approximately 7 hours. During the ride, your onboard guide will share stories and facts about the river, Lao culture, and life in the riverside villages.

Midday – Stop at Pak Ou Caves
Visit the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha images tucked inside limestone cliffs. You’ll have about 40 minutes to explore this unique religious and cultural site. Entrance fee is included in your tour.

Afternoon – Final Stretch to Luang Prabang
After visiting the caves, the slow boat continues its final stretch to Luang Prabang, passing more scenic landscapes along the way.

5:00 – 6:00 PM – Arrival in Luang Prabang
Arrival time may vary depending on the river flow and weather conditions. Upon arrival, you will receive a complimentary hotel transfer within Luang Prabang city center.
End of service.
